| Anybody have comments on the quality of the rough material as far as the finished end product? I'd like to know about how much the quality varies among lots. I plan on purchasing a larger amount next time for slabbing and carving and would prefer not having unusable shattered pieces. |

We hope to have seen you at the show!
The rough sold through the site is ideal for cutting, carving, cabbing or just displaying. Each material has its own unique properties concering the cutting yield. Most important factor factor is the cutting experience of the lapidary technician. Clearly one can see the finished materials on this site are derived from the same rough. Novice cutters should have basic understanding of factors such as hardness, cleavage, porosity, stabilization..etc.
If the question is whether or not the rough is good quality, compared to other suppliers? The answer would be we cannot pretend we have 100% client satisfaction - we have 99.5%. Bottom line you cannot make everyone happy.
re: the quality variation b/w lots. All material is graded by skilled technicans in Madagascar. There is a range in each grade.
